The amazing city of Lisbon
Lisbon the city to live your life to the fullest !
Lisbon is an amazing city to live, to study and to go out with your friends, people are welcoming and love to help and the life isn’t very expensive, what more could you ask for ?
Where to stay in Lisbon ?
In Lisbon the most common accommodation are big colocations of around 10 people. Usually you can meet there new friends from all nationalities. I would highly recommend to stay in one of those flats. However, if you want to find a place for you alone, no worries, it is also possible and there is lot of offers. The price of accommodation is very cheap compared to other cities so you will probably be able to afford a place for your own. As a student you can find your place on Uniplaces which is a platform very used in Lisbon.
I would not recommend to live in the very heart of the city and especially in Bario alto, it is very small streets with a large number of bars and pubs so it is most of the time very very noisy.
Transportation in Lisbon
Regarding the transportation, if you stay in the city centre, the city is not very big so you can easily walk, however be aware that all the city goes up and down. Otherwise, there is a very developed bus network, and of course several lines of metro.
When you want to leave the city or go around, even not far, just to go to the beach for example, there are trains that are basically used exactly like metros. Hence you can take a subscription for each means individually or just two or all of them. Additionally, there are train's zones so you are not obliged to take all zone if you don’t need to.
For the subscription it works with a card which you can take online or directly in an office. The office version is faster. The card is called Viva Viagem.
Want to find a good place to eat or drink a coffee ?
If you want to have a coffee, eat some healthy things and work on a comfy place during the rainy days in Lisbon the place to be is Comoba Cafe. This cafe is very cosy, food and all the different coffees are delicious and the staff is nice and fun ! It is the perfect little place to work or chill with friends.
Maybe you prefer to discover a tipycal Portuguese place where you can eat traditional dishes, then you need to go to the best restaurant in town : Ramiro. It is definitely the place where you will enjoy some fresh fish of the day and taste several specialities.
I would definitely advice you to test the famous Pasteis de Nata a Lisbon speciality, and if you want to try the best ones, go to the shop called "Mantegaria", it is not the most famous one but undoubtedly the best.
Finally, if you just want to have a good meal with some friends go to the restaurant named "Pizzaria Lisboa". Everything on the menu is delicious.
There are lots of things to do around the city and all over Portugal, as the summer is lasting way more time than in France you can enjoy the ocean and the beach 8 to 9 months a year, especially if you are keen on surfing.
